Hahamongna Watershed Park (HWP) consists of approximately 1300-acres of open space that extends from Devil’s Gate Dam north and into the Arroyo Seco Canyon, on the northwestern edge of the city. After many years of planning and community involvement, the Hahamongna Watershed Park Master Plan was adopted to establish a visionary framework for recreation, water resources, flood management, habitat restoration and cultural resources in this area. HWP is managed and maintained by the Department of Public Works, Parks and Natural Resources Division.

In 2005 the city purchased an additional 30 acres of land adjacent to Hahamongna Watershed Park, currently referred to as Hahamongna Annex. This land had previously been owned by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). The land was purchased with the stipulation that future uses of this property must support open space and recreation. With community input, the city has prepared a draft plan that provides a vision for the future of this property that will be integrated into the existing Hahamongna Master Plan.  This public process has included community input from many stakeholders. Portions of the site are currently leased to four different tenants, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department and three separate equestrian based organizations.  Learn more about each, below.  The advisory body overseeing the planning process for the Annex is the  Hahamongna Watershed Park Advisory Committee (HWPAC). The HWPAC meetings provide an opportunity for the public to obtain information on the planning process and submit public comment. Meeting information is provided below. The city has also had assistance from the National Park Service – Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA) during this planning process.  The Draft Hahamongna Watershed Park Annex Plan was conceptually approved by city council on April 19, 2007.
